The mission of the Section on Orthopaedics (SOOr) is to improve musculoskeletal health of children through mentorship, education, research, advocacy, and service.  Pillars within our Section address each of these topics and permit our membership to accomplish various goals.  The membership is comprised of pediatric orthopaedic surgeons, non-surgical MSK-trained pediatricians, and trainees.  We welcome all with an interest in the musculoskeletal health of children to be a part of our section.

Each fall we hold a two-day meeting in conjunction with the AAP National Conference & Exhibition.  The program includes opportunities for trainees to present research findings in the presence of their mentor to allow for discussion and sharing of data.  This opportunity allows for mentorship, education, and research to occur simultaneously to truly advance the care of musculoskeletal health of children.  Additionally, SOOr has various other educational opportunities throughout the year including webinars, our MSK bootcamp, and publications.  We work closely with AAP staff to advocate for optimal care and access surrounding pediatric musculoskeletal health.

The SOOr Executive Committee, which includes subcommittees and task forces, meet regularly to advance the aforementioned mission.  The efforts of all of the individuals involved are greatly appreciated by myself as well as the membership of the Section. Let me personally thank all involved for all that you do!
