AAP Section on Simulation and Innovative Learning Methods
The Section on Simulation and Innovative Learning Methods (SOSILM) supports the education and research interests of AAP members engaged in simulation and innovative learning in order to attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents and young adults.

Affiliations and Collaborations

Laerdal Medical 

The American Academy of Pediatrics has collaborated with Laerdal Medical to co-create a variety of simulators and products including Premature Anne™, SimNewB®, and SimJunior®. The AAP has also published scenarios available in Laerdal Scenario Cloud focused on neonatal resuscitation, pediatric care for prehospital providers, and other topics.

International Pediatric Simulation Society

The American Academy of Pediatrics is proud to have an official affiliation with the International Pediatric Simulation Society (IPSS), a nonprofit corporation established to promote and support multidisciplinary simulation-based education, training and research in all subspecialties that provide healthcare for infants and children.

Bodyswaps

The American Academy of Pediatrics and Bodyswaps have collaborated on to develop a soft skills VR product that fosters a psychologically safe space where healthcare professionals can explore their own implicit biases and motivations.  

American Heart Association

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association have collaborated on programs including Infant CPR Anytime®, a personal learning program that is an easy and effective CPR training tool as well as PALS Plus, a pediatric advanced life support course designed for more experienced pediatric healthcare professionals seeking advanced educational content.
