  • Topical forums - Participate in conversations related to subjects such as 'Applying to Residency' and 'Women in Medicine'.

Who can participate?

All AAP members. Learn more about how to become a member or renew your membership.

How do I sign up?

Visit the AAP Mentorship Program website.  Sign in with your AAP login and password.

Who's this for?

Anyone who wants to connect as a mentor, mentee, or both. There are currently over 900 members who have joined, and nearly 200 are in active mentorships.

What are the benefits of mentoring relationships?

  • Enhanced productivity
  • Career advancement
  • Greater professional satisfaction

Don't feel like you have the time? A mentor could help you identify ways to manage your workload and ultimately give you more time. Try it out! What do you have to lose?

How does it work?

  1. Complete the online profile form. (Hint: A more complete profile means more information to make a match.)

  2. If you are a mentee, the system will suggest mentors and present details on the percentage of your profile that matched with them.

  3. Reach out to one or more mentors to request a mentorship.

What is the time commitment?

This is something to discuss with your mentor/mentee and will be dependent on your goals for the program. It is suggested that mentors/mentees set regular phone meetings to discuss mentee goals, objectives, and progress. Mentors/mentees should also answer all communications in a timely manner.
