The AAP is proud to announce the creation of a Section on Urgent Care Medicine (SOUCM).  Urgent Care is a rapidly growing specialty encompassing the acute care of minor injury and routine illness frequently delivered at lower costs and in more convenient settings than traditional emergency departments. As a result, urgent care visits now number nearly 100 million annually and represent over 10% of all out-patient visits. In addition to general urgent care, many states now feature pediatric-specific urgent care centers, offering pediatric expertise and care in this high-demand field.
